[after everyone's gotten niles stabilised, maya is going to try to pull aoi off to the side (realizing that that "off" isn't going to be very far, but that's fine, no one seems to be popping by the set for now so there's no reason to leave)]

...Is he going to be okay? He doesn't need more serious medical care, does he?

Yeah, I think so. They said something about the hotel having healthcare facilities, but with the timing...

I was more wondering if you guys were going to vote him there. I know you guys will take care of him no matter what, so even if I were somehow able to win a hotel pass bid, I wouldn't spend it on him unless that's what you guys wanted.

[shifts, chewing on her lower lip]

Kind of related to that... How close are you guys and Simon?

I don't know what you'd call close. Why? Trying to warn me off of him?

[hesitates] ...I know he's going to make a tough bid to survive. And he didn't take kindly to anyone who went after him in the last event. When you guys made your bid against Hannah, was it specifically to kill her? Or was it more vague than that?

Mine wasn't vague for specific reasons. I'm sure Haru's wasn't, either.

[ Because Simon's awfully good at manipulating people, but he's never thought of Simon as being good at manipulating Aoi himself. ]

...That's a pretty vague way to say you were specific about what you wanted to do to her.

Because maybe now that I think about it, I was doing it in general for her, but I was specific about how because I wanted to repair my relationship with Simon.

...What would it matter to Simon how it was done? I mean, I can understand wanting some kind of payback for him getting hurt. But was the method something special to him or something?

I figured if it was as showy as possible, he couldn't fucking miss it. Then he'd know I was serious.

[ This is Aoi looking completely, utterly blank as the fact he's been deeply manipulated sinks in. ]

[sighs] ...Whatever the reason, I don't want him to go after anyone else. So if you have any ideas on what he might do, would you tell me? Maybe we can stop him somehow.

Okay, but it's not so simple as that. I betray him and he can kill me or worse.

But at the same time, I know who he wants to kill next, and they don't exactly deserve it.

What can he do? I'm pretty sure you can't kill anyone outside of the bid, or the insurance guys will stop it. And I'm pretty sure I know who he wants to target for that, anyway. ...I'm not asking you to do anything against him. I just want to know how hard I'd have to go to even be considered part of the competition.

Look, they're approving flaming cage matches this time around. You're going to have to go massively hard to get approved. What are you thinking of, exactly?

...I'm not sure yet. I don't want to hurt anyone, it was bad enough yesterday, and that wasn't even enough for a vote. But I can't just sit and do nothing, either. I was talking about it earlier, and we figured it had to be a show, so maybe... [she trails off, frowning] ...Niles and Haru got the use of some stuff from home because of the bid, right?

If you don't want to hurt anyone, you're not going to win against Simon. He's not the pacifistic kind. Last go around, he won by poisoning a bunch of people to death. It was a big bloody show.

You get use of whatever you need, yeah. But think about who you're appealing to. Think about what we just saw Flo do to Ene.

If you're asking for my help, you'll need to do it more directly and make it a hell of a lot more worth my while.

You already said you weren't interested. Just take care of our teammate. And...if one of you three could trade a vote with Kay, I'd appreciate it. If she makes it, I don't have to worry so much about everyone back home, so I should be able to move on pretty quick.

I'm not interested if you're using it on Niles. If you're using it on someone else, that's a different story.

My spirit, when I die. The more worries or unfinished business a spirit has, the longer it takes for them to move on to the afterlife. I dunno about you, but haunting this place forever sounds like a bummer to me.

Like I said, Niles is already safe. So there's no need to give him a pass. I'd go for someone who can't trade, like Yuzu or Haru. ...I know it'd kill you to trust me, but I wish you'd try at least once.

Why aren't you using the pass on yourself? Are you really that selfless somehow?

No way, I'm pretty much the opposite! I mean, running away, forcing all the responsibility on someone else...it's a pretty selfish request, isn't it? If I can get my grand prize, that's one thing. But if I can't...I don't think I'm strong enough to just go on with life as normal. And I don't wanna end up like Beato.

[gives a little embarrassed shrug]

...fine, I'll help you. Besides, I'd rather see you save someone for unselfish reasons than see him win for his selfish bastard reasons.
